Commiting to reduce their carbon emmission, America's largest telecom company AT&T acquired from Chevrolet Motors 1200 units of Chevrolet Express CNG vans for the company's operation in which will be distributed nationwide.
This would be first for Chevrolet for having the biggest procurement of CNG vehicle.
“CNG technology is important to AT&T because it helps us reduce our fleet-based carbon emissions, It is also cost-effective and readily available in our country right now.” - Jerome Webber, AT&T vice president for Fleet Operations.
The supply of the CNG or Compressed Natural Gas is available and abundant in US. This would be another step for AT&T to reduce their dependence from gasoline and diesel fuel at the same it will reduce their expenses in fuel.
Chevrolet Express CNG vans are powered by a Vortec 6.0L V8 engine. Customization was made on the vehicle are hardened exhaust valves, and intake and exhaust valve seats for improved wear resistance and durability with gaseous fuel systems.
